[hide][top]My Shaving History

I've been wetshaving since approximately May 23, 2011 but I've been using a double-edge razor for much longer. I received my first DE razor, a polished chrome Merkur Futur, for Christmas in 2004. I remember that my dad had a Gillette Super Adjustable and I wanted to try DE shaving too. I had no clue what I was doing when I started and had lots of cuts during my first shaves because I used the razor with Feather blades and had it set at 5 or higher.

There was quite a learning curve for me with the Futur. I thought there was something wrong with my shaving cream, canned Aveeno, so I went to Nordstrom's and got some The Art of Shaving lemon pre-shave oil to make my face more slick. The pre-shave oil helped. I remember that the subsequent shaves were nick-free. However, I was lazy and only used my Futur occasionally for the next six years and during that time, I mainly used Gillette cartridges, the Mach 3 and, later, the Fusion.

It wasn't until May 7, 2011 that I stumbled across Badger & Blade. I had been using my Futur regularly again and wanted to purchase a matching polished chrome stand. I remember that the razor has been purchased at Classic Shaving so I went there first. They didn't sell the stand separately, only as a set with the razor and brush. So I did an internet search and found this wonderful site. I did some quick browsing and saw this PIF. I couldn't believe that people were giving away free stuff to complete strangers over the internet. I registered for an account the same day.

Within a week's time, I came to realize how great a place B&B really is. The members are so helpful and kind with their knowledge and shaving equipment. I've gained tremendous of information being a member of the site and hope that you have too.
