Just to add a little about myself. When I threw this page together, it was at another user's suggestion about listing my den, and I was only thinking haves and have nots, but after looking at so many other pages and seeing what works of art they are, I felt bad for not adding a more personal touch.

I am a mid forties aged guy, who is a project foreman for a pipeline construction company. I love the work, I just have to juggle the angst of being gone from home too much and the love of working outdoors in BEAUTIFUL country and pretty much working independently.

I have a wife and two children, all of which think my relatively newly acquired shaving hobby is funny. They think it is funny that all of a sudden "ManDad" has a shave den. It is true that for the first twenty odd years of marriage, I went through a total of one bottle of an EDT, and maybe a half of a bottle of AS. I tell my wife that I am making up for lost time. She could care less one way or the other except she complains about my flinging lather all over the mirrors. My oldest recently moved out to go to college, so I took over his bathroom as my den.

I enjoy hunting and fishing, but over the years hunting time has dwindled because it is always a busy time of year at work. I do spend just about every spare minute (to the detriment of my yard work) in my boat. My wife and two children love to fish, so it is an excellent source of family time.

I am sort of a collector by nature (read packrat), and shaving has just become my latest habit. I have already gone through the gun collecting phase, the knife collecting phase, (although I still kind of have a thing for Swiss Army Knives as sort of knick knacks), the book collecting phase, the fishing gear phase.....

I really love to cook, and am always interested in ideas or items that are regional/local. Depending on how much time I have, I smoke a lot of food, and for the last couple of years I have donated the pork, and smoked enough shoulder to feed 3-400 people for my kids marching band fundraiser. I get a lot of compliments, but northern Minnesota isn't exactly a hot spot for good BBQ! I have also been experimenting with ways to cook fish. I catch and cook literally hundreds of fish a year, and fried with tartar sauce gets old. Believe it or not, prosciutto wrapped crappies with a lemon butter caper sauce would bring a good price at any restaurant. ?

As far as shaving hardware, I have recently gotten into brush resto/building. I am no artist, but I love picking out custom handles and choosing my own knots to put in them, and have just recently taken an interest in replacing knots into old handles. I really am into how great synth knots perform and have a bunch of them. As far as razors go, I kind of am set. I like vintage, but really am not into TTO razors. I have a really keen interest in straights, but kind of can't imagine all of the shipping off to hone, and just don't see myself having the time to do it myself. I really do enjoy my Feather AC.

I spend a lot of time reading, at night when I am on the road, but mainly through Nook or Kindle apps on my Ipad.

Hope this helps,

Jared
