I'm still barely under 40 years of age but have only been DE shaving since about the third quarter of 2013. I'm allowed to be a little scratchy for work so I usually only shave 3-4 times per week, in the evenings.
Hot shower, face lather, hot water shave and some witch hazel or a mild scented aftershave.

Current Razors
  • EJ DE89 Barley (My 1st razor and still one I use from time to time)
  • Gillette Red Tip (My favorite of the ones I own)
  • Weber (My other favorite)
  • K1 Flare SS (I've actually never used this one)
  • Merkur 37c (Shaves well but I think I do just as well with my Weber and Red Tip)
  • Gillette NEW OC Short Comb Replated(I get good close shaves with this but it's prone to giving me a few weepers)
  • Gillette NEW OC Long Comb Rhodium Replate(Just received this one in November 2015. Only 2 shaves on it but so far so good.)

Current Brushes
  • Simpson 'The Colonel" X2L Best Badger (Sheds like crazy. It's nice and soft but I would prefer a smaller diameter and less loft. I can't "color in the lines" with a brush this size. I get lather in my ears and nose and the brush feels almost too soft/floppy.)
  • Semogue Owners Club Boar (Great inexpensive brush. I like the scrubby Boar for face lathering soaps. This has been my go to brush for almost a year now. I haven't touched my Badger much since acquiring the Boar)

Current Soaps / Creams
I have found that I get better results when using my soaps than my creams. I enjoy the scents of the creams I have but will likely replace them with soap versions when/if I run these dry.
  • RR - Chianti Lavender SOAP (Great Soap. Nice smell and I prefer the glide I get from my soaps vs. my creams)
  • RR - San Valentino SOAP
  • Proraso Green SOAP (Another great performer. Nice smell)
  • D.R. Harris - Arlington CREAM (I love the smell, just wish it had the soothing properties of a soap)
  • Geo F Trumper - Coconut (Great smell)
  • Castle Forbes - Lime (Great smell)
  • Truefitt & Hill - Sandalwood Soap
  • Queen Charlotte Soaps - Vostok Soap
  • Haslinger - Sandelholz, Honig, Coconut, Schafmilch Rasierseife
  • D.R. Harris - Almond Soap

Current Blades
I own many 1 or 2 blade samples but the following are the ones I purchased several tucks of after some trial and error. I'd like to add a small stash of Red Israeli Personna to the stash and then call it quits on blade purchases for the next 20 years or so.

  • Astra SP
  • Voskhod
  • Polsilver SI
  • Gillette Silver Blue
  • Gillette 7 O'clock Black
  • Gillette 7 O'clock Yellow
  • Feather
  • Perma- Sharp

Current After Shave Products
  • Nivea - Sensitive Post Shave Balm
  • Nivea - Energy AS Splash
  • Thayer's Witch Hazel - Lavender, Rose, Cucumber
  • Proraso Green

Where I'm Heading?

  • I'd like a new Boar Brush that has a smaller diameter/bloom and a shorter loft. My current Simpson is very nice but sheds a lot and is a little large for my face. A nice little beehive handle would be cool.
  • I am lacking in the AS department. It would take me years to use up entire bottles so I have been hesitant to buy many. I've been longing to try 4711, Lucky Tiger, Arlington AS Milk, assorted Floid selections, Truefitt & Hill 1805. I'd also really like to try a nice cool mentholated AS like Kramperts Frostbite. I'll likely never buy these for myself but if I can find someone to decant a few for me that would be perfect.
  • No more razors for me. I've found a couple that work very well with nearly any blade I throw in them. If I buy another razor it will likely be a crisp, clean, minty fresh version of a Red Tip to keep as a backup for my current one. If I ever come into a bunch of spending $ I would love to try some of the ATT line but that's not likely to happen.
  • Unfortunately I ventured into "The Nib" and have now acquired a couple of fountain pens. They're really great writing instruments and coming from an arts background in college and a continued interest in all things "artsy", it's nice to pick different nibs and inks etc... I now own assorted Rhodia, Clairefontaine, and Banditapple pads; Pelikan, Pilot, Namiki, and Lamy pens; and Diamine, Iroshizuku, and Private Reserve inks.

I'm glad I found this forum. Everyone here has been friendly and welcoming. It's nice to know there's a bunch of like minded gentlemen (perhaps women too?) floating around on the internet that are interested in good clean fun.
