HEMA (IPA: ['hɛmæ]) is a Dutch chain of department stores with stores in the Netherlands, Belgium, Luxembourg and Germany. The first store was opened the 4th of November 1926 in Amsterdam. The name HEMA is short for the original name of the company, Hollandsche Eenheidsprijzen Maatschappij Amsterdam.
